What role does fashion play in the modern world?
This year has been a turning point for the entire planet. Everything has changed, landmarks, plans, vector. Fashion has ceased to be superficial, it has become deeper, more individual, more intelligent. It has long ceased to be just a cover for nudity … Fashion now sets the tone, mood, gives inspiration, some new philosophical ideas. Especially now, when psychological support is very much needed – and clothes fulfill this role, helping people.
Are you working on sustainability?
We believe that the world needs to be balanced, so we do not rush from using natural fabrics to synthetic ones, for example. These are rather extreme. After all, the production of natural fabrics (such as cotton) requires a large amount of water. And synthetic ones are first pumped out of the bowels, and then spoil nature, seas, rivers – and are not processed, remaining in the ground. Therefore, it seems to us that the balance that the consumer / client chooses equalizes this consumption and, without going to extremes, gives more opportunities for nature to maintain universal harmony.
What steps should designers take to bring about eco-change in the fashion industry?
Now the main problem is the overproduction of cheap clothes, which require the same amount of effort, resources and energy as expensive or middle-class clothes. But all this cheap clothing lasts at best one season, and then thrown away. Clothing made from high-quality fabrics is worn more than one season, but more. As designers, we are adherents of long-term trends and make our collections with the expectation of not one, but several seasons. Therefore, people can wear and enjoy both the design and the quality of the clothes produced. These are long-lasting things that preserve nature, and you can enjoy them all the time.
What do you wish for the fashion industry?
We would like designers to put positivity into their clothes and through these clothes a good mood will spread all over the world. It would help them live and inspire everyone around. And, of course, peace to all.
